CHEP Pallet shortage
There has been a lot of media around the current pallet shortage in Australia. Part of the issues have to do with a timber shortage we are currently experiencing which is affecting the manufacture of pallets.
As an extension to this it has caused a major problem for all transport companies in relation to the actual movement of CHEP and LOSCAM pallets throughout the supply chain.
We have been advised that our transport providers will only accept EXCHANGE CHEP and LOSCAM pallets when making deliveries. The transport companies will NOT accept Chep transfer dockets.
Should you not have CHEP exchange pallets the delivery will not be completed and the goods will be returned to store. There will be additional delivery costs and a futile trip charged on these occasions.
We appreciate that the whole supply chain is becoming quite technical at the moment and appreciate your assistance with this process. Our transport team will work with you to make sure there is no issue however please keep a few CHEPS spare for exchange for deliveries.
Terminal Access fee increases
We have been notified of further terminal access and timeslot fee increases by DP World which will be implemented from the 01st January 2022.
As with all these litany of fee increases we will work with our providers to minimise the increases to our clients however we will need to pass these through.
Interestingly there appears to be some appetite for the Federal Government to finally have a look at the situation at the terminals with a productivity commission review to be commissioned to look at the terminals amongst the whole supply chain.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact one of our team to further explain these issues.
