As we head into the spring with peak season starting to develop we now have a number of public holidays to navigate prior to the Xmas rush.

22^nd September – as a national public holiday to commemorate the passing of the Queen;

23^rd September – Melbourne only – grand final eve public holiday;

01^st to 07^th October – Golden week in China. There is other public holidays through out the region with individual countries closing for a day or two however the full week closer in China is significant;

03^rd October – Sydney and Brisbane are on leave.

What this means is the next 4 weeks will be challenging both locally and globally and the more planning that can be implemented the better the process will work.
With Melbourne having a 4 day weekend (22^nd to 25^th September) there will be issues with container availability and storage charges. We will endeavour to get all containers off the terminal to reduce the impact however this will also incur back to yard and minimal storage costs.

As we know there is already substantial pressure on empty container parks and this will be heightened during this period. We will try and dehire all containers within the allocated free time however this will not always be possible. We will communicate with transport and our clients to minimise the impacts.

Golden Week – China – 01^st to 07^th October

With Golden Week fast approaching we will work with suppliers, clients and our partners overseas to make sure all bookings are placed, containers packed, shipped and documents are available. We ask that all our clients also speak to their suppliers to get any documents which may be needed.

As we outlined it is a challenging time however with coordination and communication the additional costs and delays can be minimised. Please speak to our staff to make sure all options are covered when it comes to the movement and delivery of your shipment.
