VoxGroup Newsletter – 19th March 2021
VoxTrade assistance
VoxTrade, our international trade consulting division has seen an increase in requests for assistance in relation to applications for Tariff Concession Orders (TCO’s), classification assistance and advice on relation to interpretation of the requirements of both Australian Border Force and the Department of Agriculture.
The increase in audit activity by both organisations has led to a number of interventions and actions which have left both industry and importers exposed to actions. Should you have any concerns in relation to the way goods are entered or are approached by either department please call us as early as possible. The earlier the engagement with the department commences the more likely a better outcome will be achieved.
Anti-dumping investigations
The Anti-Dumping Commission has initiated a new investigation on steel plate imported from the USA. This continues a substantial increase in the number of investigations being undertaken which has meant the normal legislated timelines for an investigation to be completed are being extended.
VoxGroup are experts in the area of dumping and countervailing issues therefore should you have any queries or be subject to dumping or countervailing duties and would like these assessed please call us
Stevedore Charges
The industry has been notified by DP World of a further pending increase in terminal charges due to commence on the 10st May 2021. Industry experience shows that once one operator increases charges the rest follow, so we expect further increases from all terminal operators.
Unfortunately the increase in charges has not come hand in hand with an increase in service. There are consistent delays at Australian ports with vessels still waiting days to come to dock and be processed.
Take care and stay safe.
