COVID-19 (Coronavirus) update – 01^st May 2020

Based on all news reports it appears all our social distancing, lock-downs and safety checks are working. Hopefully as the Governments start to ease the lock-downs, we all continue to play our part to keep everyone safe and healthy.

The actual movement of goods over the past week has again been reasonably consistent. We are still seeing airfreight coming via certain charters and seafreight is still experiencing low volumes and this is causing the shipping lines to continue to impose blank sailings to reduce space and hold rates steady.

We continue to see imbalance of equipment, therefore if you need special equipment to ship your goods, please provide as much notice as possible so we can organise within the timeline you require.

New By-Law by the Australian Government

The Federal Government has implemented a new by-law which has an operative date of the 01^st February, which covers some medical goods being imported for treatment of the pandemic. Items such as face masks, goggles, gloves, clothing test kits and soaps (hand sanitizers are expressly excluded) that comply with certain requirements of the bylaw, can now be imported duty free.

Up until now, most of these goods have been supplied by China which we have a free trade agreement, however if you have imported these goods from February 2020 and paid import duty please contact us and we can determine if you are due a refund.

The bylaw will stay in place until the 30^th July 2020.

Fuel Surcharge Reductions

Whilst there have been numerous increases from Governments, stevedores and depots we are pleased to announce our fuel surcharge will be reduced to 14% for deliveries from the 01^st May.

Everyone has seen the rapid reduction in the price of unleaded fuel through the different markets. Whilst diesel has not had the same dramatic reductions, it has reduced significantly and stabilised, which has allowed us to renegotiate with our partners and pass on these savings to you….
