General Rate Increase – Freight
As the shipping lines continue with the program of reducing capacity and blank sailings out of China we are starting to see the rates increasing from most ports.
The imbalance between supply and demand in the individual shipping routes is slowly getting closer to balanced which is giving the shipping lines the impetus to push harder for increases in the freight rates.
Vox continues to work with our partners overseas to obtain the best rates for the services required and will continue to monitor the situation and talk to our customers.
Local increases – Airfreight
Throughout July we were notified of increases in local airfreight terminal charges from the three main operators.
The increases were across the board on areas like terminal fees, document fees and handling charges.
These increases are normal at this time of year and we continue to monitor and negotiate with the individual companies to mitigate the increases as much as possible.
Vox will continue to negotiate on behalf of our clients to provide consistent rates and sailing schedules which allow our clients to plan for future imports.
It is worth noting that whilst the rates are increasing from China the rates from most parts of the world continue to be stable at a lower rate. With all reports that there will be a very subdued peak season in 2023 it is our opinion the rates will increase slightly, and space will not be a huge issue throughout the quarter 3 & 4 period.
Notwithstanding this we encourage all our clients to keep communicating their forward plans with us so that al options can be investigated.
