Chain of Responsibility – International and Domestic transport
There has been a lot of focus recently on the transport industry specifically vehicles which have either been over or underweight or vehicles carrying Dangerous Goods.
It is important to remember under Chain of Responsibility laws in every state in Australia there is substantial fines for all parties involved in the movement of goods whether this be in containers, on pallets or as loose cartons.
The terminals have implemented additional charges for containers where the weight is over or under the weights declared from overseas. The containers are weighed upon leaving the terminals and any discrepancy can cause the implementation of a fine.
To avoid any issues whilst dealing with the movement of your goods please make sure the documents supplied are accurate.
These documents can include:
Packing lists with details on the goods, packages , weights and sizes being carried;
Dangerous Goods declarations;
Container Weight Declarations;
All shipments need to be labelled correctly and in the case of dangerous goods the documentation including an SDS needs to be supplied.
If you are unsure of any of the processes in undertaking the movement of your goods please speak to one of our staff members and we can provide guidance on these issues.
