VoxGroup Newsletter – 17th July 2020
GST Deferral
As we head into a new financial year and with COVID 19 still strong, it may be worthwhile investigating the GST Deferral program by the ATO. This program allows you to defer your GST payments for a period and has a small number of qualifying requirements.
This program can help with cashflow as it removes the requirement to pay the GST at the time of importation. If you are not currently deferring GST and are interested, please let us know.
Industrial Action
We have received notification that the Maritime Union will be conducting industrial action at DP World facilities over the next week in all the major ports. The action varies between work bans and potential stoppages.
If the action will affect your deliveries, we will let you know as our team is fully aware of the action and working to make sure our clients are not affected.
BMSB Season
As we have advised in previous newsletters BMSB season is due to start on the 01st September, therefore as upcoming orders are placed it is now time to seriously consider how you will approach this season.
The department has advised there is still a lot of companies waiting for treatment in Australia rather than having the treatment done offshore. This has placed strain on the local fumigators and has caused delays that can go into weeks.
It is worth noting the department will NOT accept any costs with these delays, which could include storage and container detention and therefore the small delay in getting treatment done prior to export at origin, can cost you weeks at destination.
