Brown Mamorated Stink Bug (BMSB) season

The 2023-2024 BMSB season is about to commence.

From the 01st September 2023 the season commences and therefore any shipments from high risk countries including the US, most of Europe and some Asian countries.

If you are shipping target high risk goods from these areas please make sure wherever possible the goods are treated prior to shipping. During the BMSB season it is worth noting that there is consistent delays within onshore treatments and therefore we recommend treatment overseas.

In the case of shipping goods on flat racks or in open top containers these must be treated overseas within 120 hours from being shipped on board. If the goods are not treated overseas they will be refused entry into Australia and must therefore be re-exported.

Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) delays

DAFF is currently substantially delayed in processing shipments for the importing and exporting industry. Currently DAFF is taking up to 5-7 days to process shipments and therefore we ask that all clients send through documents as early as possible.

DAFF will not be responsible for storage, detention or any additional charges incurred by the importer due to the delays in processing shipments.

Should you be importing goods subject to DAFF lodgement (food, wooden Items, permitable goods) we recommend providing documents to Vox at least 7 days prior to arrival.

Should you have any queries in relation to these matters please speak to Mike or Brett.
