Industrial Action Update
The Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) has notified Patricks of its intention to undertake further Protected Industrial Action at Patrick Terminals – Brisbane, Sydney and Fremantle.
There is a growing backlog of containers, across all four Patrick container terminals, there are approximately 100,000 containers that are waiting to be handled, in addition to this the current waiting time for berth for an on-time vessel is 8 days in Brisbane, 17.8 days in Sydney, 9.3 days in Melbourne and 3 days in Fremantle.
We will continue to keep you up to date with ongoing developments and we will assist where we can to reduce impacts within your supply chain.
Oceanfreight Congestion
We are continuing to see reduced space from China to Australia, along with shipping lines advising that they are no longer taking bookings to Australia from most origin’s until early to mid-October, carriers need to see an ease in current port congestion and delays are reduced.
This is now causing additional challenges with ocean freight. If you have an upcoming booking, it is imperative that you provide as much notice as possible, so we can book space as early as possible.
Sydney Congestion Surcharge
We are now seeing some carriers increase their Sydney Congestion Surcharge, this will be applicable for both FCL and LCL and VoxLogstics will pass this on at cost. There are a number of carriers omitting Sydney and discharging Sydney containers at alternate ports, if this happens to one of your containers, we will be in contact to discuss alternative options.
Please do not hesitate to contact VoxLogistics with any questions and please stay safe
