VoxGroup Newsletter – 27th November 2023
Industrial Action – DP World:
The industrial action at DP World terminals around the country continues to cause delays with arrival of vessels into port, pick up of containers and also return of empty containers.
Our transport carriers are continuing to work around the clock to pick up containers and avoid waiting time and container detention.
There is a series of full day bans on loading and unloading of trucks next week. Each port has different allocated days with Sydney being first on Monday 27th November.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to our clients.
Industrial Action – Brisbane port:
The MUA has also called stop work meetings at the other Brisbane terminals scheduled for Tuesday 28th November from 7am to 11pm.
This will mean virtually all activity at the port of Brisbane will be non-existent next Tuesday.
We will advise more information as it comes to hand.
Freight costs / vessel space:
The above industrial action is causing delays in vessel arrivals and vessel availability overseas. We are advised there has been some blank sailings and re-routing of vessels due to delays and congestion within Australian ports.
The effect of the above delays is that we are seeing freight rates being held at their highest rate for the 2023 calendar year from China as well as increases in freight rates from most ports around the world.
