Important Updates for Importers:

1. DAFF Processing Fee Increase:

Starting from 1st July 2024, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has increased the import declaration processing fee by $3 AUD.

Currently, DAFF processing times range from 4-5 business days.

To avoid delays, please ensure all import shipment documents are submitted at least 7 days prior to importation.

2. Container Detention Delays:

Delays at Australian ports are affecting container detention times. Shipping lines typically offer 7-8 calendar days of free detention from discharge.

To minimise additional costs due to delays, we recommend requesting at least 10 days for container detention within Australia.

3. Transhipment Cargo Delays:

The two main transhipment ports for freight to Australia are Singapore and Port Klang.

Expect delays for transhipment cargo through Singapore and Port Klang.

Singapore is experiencing 4-6 week delays, and Port Klang 2-4 week delays.

We advise factoring in extra time into your supply chain estimates for imports through these ports.
